The thrilling conclusion. Well at least this one has a Charlie the Unicorn reference AND a Stars Wars reference, so it’s a twofer. In case you missed Parts 1 and 2, there they are.
Landmarks of note
The third night was spent in Laramie, WY, which I swore I knew from Little House on the Prairie. Apparently it’s the most typical ‘Old West Town’ ever, and there was a total cinematic showdown back in the day. Not a whole lot to see today, though.
We passed by the Great Salt Lake and drove through (although, unfortunately, not over) the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.
There were some nice lookouts in Nevada that Charlie enjoyed, a magical place of hope and joy, and some other attractions we weren’t able to stop for.
We took a detour around Lake Tahoe at the request of Richard’s father, and although we weren’t impressed at the main town where all the tourists flock (it just seemed a little too fake and tourist-trappy and unrealistic), we loved driving around the Southwest side of the lake. Gorge.
Here’s a little video, not my best camera work but you’ll get the idea. And yes, the video is sped up. And yes, that is my little Civic we’re following. Looks like a hip handy-cam Civic commercial if you ask me and Norah Jones.
And so finally, we made it to our new home in Richmond, CA. It’s lovely! Come visit. We have rock squirrels.
