More for my own memory, here’s a recap of our great adventure out West–if we’re friends on Facebook you’ve probably seen most of the photos so it mightn’t be that interesting…but then again I just used the word mightn’t. So it just might.
The Logistics
After a frantic last week getting everything packed, sold, donated, or boxed for later shipping while cleaning our Bloomington apartment, we packed everything we could into a Mazda 3 and a Civic and said goodbye to B-town. We set out with Richard and I, the cat and the dog in one car and Richard’s parents driving my car, so we could switch off driving duties as needed. We drove 7 to 12 hours a day, stopping when we needed to (and when the pets needed to), and lunches and dinners included finding a Subway and a picnic table where we could haul the kids out for a little fresh air.
We didn’t plan our overnight stops and made no reservations in advance–which initially made me a little twitchy, but it only got dicey in Elko which is apparently a real happening mini-Reno. It all worked out though, and we were able to decide at the end of each day whether to keep going or make camp.
The picture on the right was taken on the night Pixel went crazy. But I think that’s a post of it’s own. I’ll keep this one boring.
